Latest News about the WIXY 1260's
April 14, 2012 The WIXY 1260's are proud to announce the formation of WIXY Unplugged, a scaled down acoustic version of the band created by demand to play smaller venues. WIXY Unplugged will still be playing the same great variety of classic hits from the 60's and 70's. They will debut at Bene Vino Urban Winery in Perry township on May 18th.
March 30, 2012 We are saddened to announce that all entertainment at the Crow's Nest in Marblehead has been cancelled for the 2012 summer season as part of a settlement between Lonz Winery and BMI and ASCAP. However, the WIXY 1260's are working hard to replace those dates with nearby clubs at the islands.
March 11, 2012 For the second year in a row, the WIXY 1260's provided the entertainment for the Parma Education Association's Scholarship Fundraiser at Holy Spirit on W.54th. The guests were dressed to the nines as the theme was Breakfast at Tiffany's. The food provided by Wal-Tams was awesome. Once again, the event was a sellout and a tremendous success. Thanks again Michele Bender, Kim Porco, and Maureen Neville. We appreciated the words of encouragement from Fr. Batcha. It was especially nice to to see Euclid City Schools Superintendent, Dr. Joffrey Jones. "Mr." Jones was my junior high school English teacher and basketball coach 13 years ago. No, wait, 23, no 33 years ago? That can't be right. I'm not that old.
March 4, 2012 Congratulations to all the awards recipients last night at the CFI Inc. banquet. The WIXY 1260's enjoyed performing at your function. Everyone looked great all dressed up. Even the band looked pretty dapper in their formal attire. Thanks for having us and hope to be of service to you again in the near future. Special thanks go out to Mr. Goodwin (no relation to my wife), Cheryl and Jim Hafner, Connie Wilson, Terry Jacobs, Frank, Tom, Pete, and all our new friends at CFI. It was a pleasure meeting everyone. Next stop: the Parma Education Association Scholarship Fundraiser. The guys look forward to breaking out some new tunes we've been working on lately. If you haven't been out to see us in a while we've added to our already extensive repertoire. Without giving anything away because we want you to be surprised, we've added new songs by the Who, Paul Revere and the Raiders, the Righteous Brothers, Royal Guardsmen, Grassroots, Bob Seger, the Beach Boys, the Lovin' Spoonful, the Troggs, the Hombres, and a few more. If we don't already play your favorite song from the 60's and 70's, we'll get to it soon. The summer gigs are coming in every week. So, we will be in your neighborhood over the summer months. If anyone knows of any places you think we would go over well, please contact us.

December 21, 2011 The WIXY 1260's would like to extend their warmest holiday wishes for all our fans and their families. We promise to be back to rock you all in the new year with lots of surprises and plenty of more awesome music. WIXY's gone bananas. Join the bunch in 2012.

November 6, 2011 North Olmsted was rocking last night as the WIXY 1260's took the stage at Doc & LoUIE's again. The dancers filled the dance floor early and when they couldn't fit anymore they danced in the aisles and in their seats. As I looked out in the audience I noticed many people singing along to every tune. Tim and Mark were among those adding vocals last night. Nancy and Rick returned for another dose of 60's and 70's dance rock, as did Barb, Brenda, Jane, Darren, and Tina. We met some new friends as well, like Laura, Kevin, and Stacie. Our very good friends, Pam and Don, finally made it out to see us too. It was good to see my cousin, Jimmy, and his wife, Melissa, who took precious time from their busy schedules to come out to party with the band. Special birthday wishes go out to Alan, celebrating his 24th with us. We hope you enjoyed the Doors. Thanks Doc for having us. Next stop: Bullfrog's in North Ridgeville, Monday, November 21st.
October 16, 2011 Hey, does this show go to Parma? PARMA? Queue the polka music. The WIXY 1260's played the 7th annual Ghoulardifest yesterday and rocked the people from Parma to Oxnard. Of course, they were upstaged later by Big Chuck Schodowski (on ukulele) and Son of Ghoul (on bass) with their rendition of Winchester Kielbasi. It was nice to see some familiar faces in the audience. Special thanks go out to my cousin, John Root. I tried to talk him into breaking out his accordion and joining us during Squeezebox but he felt that would be a little too cliché. Thanks also to Dan Holland, and Mike and Karen Mace who had some kind words for us. Also in attendance were Rick and Evelyne Kalister, and Bob from the Angry Dan Band.
October 11, 2011 Thanks to all who came out to see us at Bullfrog's last night. Our good friend, Norm Tischler came all the way from Cleveland Heights to North Ridgeville and had nothing but extremely kind words to say about the WIXY 1260's. Norm, next time bring your sax and jam with us. Other musicians in the house were guitarist, Michael Wypasek, and his lovely wife, Terri, and keyboardist/guitarist, Jim Roberts, and Penny. Michael hosts the jam night at Bullfrog's every Tuesday while Jim is a multi-talented musician and vocalist. Of course, Theresa and Jane were in attendance as well. The food was excellent and the company even better. We had a great time and look forward to coming back next month. Thanks for having us Hugh. On another note, the band is are hard at work this week preparing for the big gig at Ghoulardifest this Saturday at UAW Hall 1005, 5615 Chevrolet Blvd, Parma, Ohio. The event runs from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening. The WIXY 1260's will be performing Saturday morning at 10:45 am. Doors open at 10:00 am so get there early.
October 8, 2011 The WIXY guys rocked the house again last night. This time it was a new house for the band, their debut at Doc & LoUIE's Bar & Grille in North Olmsted. The WIXY 1260's are really gaining a strong following all over northeast Ohio. We would like to thank all our friends and fans for the great support. We would especially like to express our gratitude to the people last night that helped us show Doc we are worth future bookings as we immediately picked up two more gigs from him this year with more to come in 2012. To Lisa, Al, Doug, Nancy, Rick, Brenda, Jane, Jason, Colleen, Bonnie, John, Charlene, Darren, Tina, Cindy, Harold, Theresa, and a cast of thousands (well, a cast of dozens anyway): Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, etc.
September 25, 2011 Last night the WIXY 1260's rocked the house once again at Mel's Crow's Nest. Word has gotten out in Marblehead and the place was packed early. The crowd was worked up into a frenzy by the time we started playing music. The audience was comprised of both new and familiar faces as the band has developed quite a local following. The self proclaimed "Cougars" made it a fun evening from the beginning. We appreciate the support and encouragement from friends like Rhonda, Heidi, Dan, and Mary. We look forward to seeing everyone again at the Halloween bash on Saturday, October 29th. Don't forget your costumes. Thanks go out to Bill Terry for filling in on keyboards and vocals. Bill is a member of Rendezvous, the Brothers Blues Band, and Lights, the Journey Xperience. He made it seem like we had played together forever. This was not the last time you'll see Bill with us.
September 18, 2011 The WIXY 1260's celebrated a birthday with an old friend. When I say old friend, I mean OLD. Scott "Otto" Graham turned a half century and we were there to help him over the hill. Otto was one of the original High Priests from the now defunct First Orbical Church Of Rock-N-Roll, an organization founded by Cleveland Firefighters dedicated to spreading the word of John, Paul, George and Ringo. It was a grand time and brought back memories of playing the Moondog Coronation back in the day with the help of the Orbs. Happy Birthday Otto! And many more.
September 10, 2011 We received a last minute call to fill in at Thunder on the Strip at Sportsterz in Geneva on the Lake Thursday afternoon and were able to pull together with a little help from our friends. Thanks to Sammy Romano and Brent Lane for covering for Glen and Joe. They really stepped up in a pinch and the band didn't miss a beat. The crowd quickly filled the room and the dance floor remained full all night. The WIXY 1260's would like to also thank Jake and Stacy for having us and look forward to playing there again next summer. Friday night we returned to the Crow's Nest in Marblehead. Vicki, Joan, Mary, Pooh Bear, Giddyup Dave, and Frank, along with some of the other regulars got the party going early and kept it going all night. See you guys again in a couple weeks.
September 4, 2011 Once again Yearbook beat the rain last night. This time we even got the equipment loaded in the vehicles before the storm hit. It was a rousing performance and the Willow Lake audience responded. The band fed off the enthusiasm of the crowd and played that much better. I think all that attended would agree it was a fitting end to the summer and we look forward to returning for several engagements next year.
August 28, 2011 Yearbook played a "spirited" gig at Doc & Louie's last night. The band and the crowd were in high spirits. Rick thought he saw the spirit of his late grandmother. Joe imbibed in spirits before the gig and later worshipped at the porcelain altar of the Great Spirit. All in all, everyone had fun and no one was hurt. We received word recently that the WIXY DJ reunion that was scheduled for Ghoulardifest in October will be postponed until sometime in March so it can be given its proper attention and held at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The WIXY 1260's band will be performing at both events. More details will be released as they are ironed out.
August 21, 2011 The guys performed twice with Yearbook this past week. On Thursday, August 18th, they played the Elyria Concert in the Park as they have the last several years. Several audience members commented that it was the best concert of the summer and they couldn't wait for our return next year. The event was covered in a very nice article written in The Morning Journal. Saturday we returned to the Ashland Fraternal Order of Eagles, where we received a very warm welcome. The crowd played a little game of "Stump the Band." I'd have to say we won. It would have been a complete shutout but we decided that it wasn't the right venue for AC/DC, not that we couldn't play it.
August 11, 2011 Ch-ch-ch-changes. Turn and face the strange. Changes. Yes, there are changes with the WIXY 1260's again. And if you have ever met our newest member, Jimmy, then you have turned and faced the strange. Just kidding. Jimmy Aschenbener joins the band, bringing with him a fresh exciting vitality. His exuberance is contagious and anyone that comes in contact with him is at risk of being infected with uncontrollable laughter. Affectionately nicknamed Pugsley, he exudes fun. The new addition allows for the early departure of Rob Johnston, who was planning on leaving at the end of the year due to work demands. I am sure you have not seen the last of Rob on a WIXY stage though. He has agreed to make himself available as a substitute for Gary, Jimmy, or Glen if needed. Thanks and good luck Rob and welcome Jimmy.
August 4, 2011 I would be amiss if I didn't state what a great job our newest member, Gary Lennox, has done these last few gigs. He had very little time to get ready for the last three jobs but he gave it 110% and showed up at rehearsals prepared. It is obvious to all that he spent a lot of time working on his own to make the transition into the band very easy. The past couple weeks have been a lot of fun. The WIXY 1260's welcome Gary into the "family" and hope for a long lasting working relationship.
July 31, 2011 The band is still recuperating from last weekends party atmosphere at both, Manzo's in Brunswick, and Mel's Crow's Nest in Marblehead. The band was challenged at both gigs with obscure requests and we rose to the occasion pulling off Little Black Egg by the Nightcrawlers and the Nashville Teens hit, Tobacco Road. Friday night we had a great time jamming for a younger crowd than we are used to and we were pleasantly surprised at the reaction we received. Manzo's Sports & Spirits is a relatively new club on the scene, a secret that was bound to get out. The staff and patrons were very good to the band. Tied in with Pizza Marcello next door, you don't have to go far for some great food to go along with your drinks. Thanks Ross for having us. On Sunday the WIXY 1260's journeyed to Marblehead to play at the Crow's Nest. The manager, Keith, said he knew before the first song was over that he wanted us back regularly. We look forward to our next time up there, September 9th, a Friday night, and we are working on scheduling one weekend a month for next summer. Thanks to all that made it fun for the band, but especially Keith, Jimmy (from the kitchen), Pam, Roberta, Barb, Jen, Mary, Pooh Bear, Joan, and Giddyup Dave. We made so many new friends and we can't wait to see you all again.
July 20, 2011 It is Wednesday afternoon and I am still recovering from a terrific weekend at Dragway 42 with both, Yearbook, and the WIXY 1260's. Both bands were received very well and have already been asked to return for next year's Rock and Race. We wanted to thank all those involved in making the event special, but especially, Jack, Jo, Toby, Wayne, Subourbon Son, Death By Rodeo, and the Rocket 88's. It was a pleasure working with all of you. The pictures will be up soon. In the meantime, a new video from the Lock 3 gig has been uploaded to the video page while more photos have been posted for the Kool Lakes gig.
July 14, 2011 It has been brought to our attention that apparently their is some confusion about the two bands, Yearbook and the WIXY 1260's. Some anonymous person(s) reported that the two bands were posing as each other and misrepresenting themselves. I'm sure the loyal fans of both bands have lost a lot of sleep over this issue and it couldn't possibly be some former band member with nothing better to do with their time than try to cause a commotion. So, to clear things up once and for all, Yearbook and the WIXY 1260's are two separate entities sharing common musicians. The calendar has been updated to reflect exactly when each band is playing and where. And, no, we are not the same five musicians that performed together last year as the WIXY 1260's. We are better. And, yes, the WIXY 1260's song list has changed a little but still reflects the same focus and concept of the WIXY 1260's, to bring the audience a nostalgic look at am radio hits from the years 1965 thru 1975.
July 10, 2011 Oh what a party last night! The weather once again cooperated and our sister band, Yearbook, played a wonderful birthday/anniversary party in Homerville. Laura and Dan really know how to throw a bash. The food was excellent and the company was even better. You people know how to party. Sorry we had to limit the encores but you people would have never let us leave the stage. Happy Anniversary folks and Happy Birthday Dan. Thanks to Glen Beitzel for filling in on drums.
July 8, 2011 I just got off the phone with northeast Ohio radio legend (and author), Mike Olszewski. Mike, as you may or may not know, is the author of Radio Daze: Stories from the Front in Cleveland's Fm Air Wars, and co-author of Ghoul Scrapbook, and now, Wixy 1260: Pixies, Six-packs, and Supermen. He is also one of the organizers of the annual Ghoulardifest, now in its 7th year. This year's event will take place October 14-16 at the UAW Hall 1005, 5615 Chevrolet Blvd, Parma, Ohio. As a special added bonus to the usual fun and frivolities, this year the event coordinators have planned a WIXY 1260 Reunion on Saturday, October 15th. Many of the disc jockeys from the station back in the day will be there to share stories. Mr. Olszewski graciously asked if we would perform at the convention and the WIXY 1260's genuinely feel privileged to be invited. Thank you Mike. We will see you there and we are at this moment turning our turntables up to 47 rpm so as to be able to fit fit six songs in ten minutes.
July 4, 2011 What a great holiday weekend! We had two wild private campground parties. We always have fun in Medina but Friday was special. Our other band, Yearbook, was firing on all cylinders. The fireworks in the background were an added bonus. We were all having such a good time we didn't notice the storm rolling in. The music and applause drowned out the thunder. Fortunately, we were able to finish the night and pack up before the heavy rain hit. Saturday was a beautiful day for a party in the park. The thunder showers passed through overnight and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. The WIXY 1260's took the Kool Lakes Campground stage at 8:00 and it wasn't long before the whole park knew there was a band playing. The pavilion filled up within minutes and there wasn't an empty seat in the house. Soon the golf carts appeared from nowhere and we were surrounded. The audience was incredible. They danced and sang along with every song. We were approached by at least a dozen people that said the music selection was a refreshing change from what they were used to. This was truly an all-ages show too. There were people there with their children and grandchildren and a good time was had by all. Thanks Rose for having us and we look forward to playing there again soon. What a fun bunch of people.
June 28, 2011 The WIXY 1260's and our sister band, Yearbook, are honored to be invited to perform along with several other bands at Dragway 42's Rock and Race on Friday, July 15th and Saturday, July 16th. Gates open at 4:00 PM and live music starts at 8:00 PM on Friday while the general public is welcome to arrive at 10:00 AM Saturday morning and invited to stay for live music at 7:00 PM. More information can be found at www.dragway42.com or click on the picture below. The countdown begins.
June 26, 2011 The members of the WIXY 1260's and Yearbook are still buzzing after last nights special birthday party in North Olmsted. We made a lot of new friends and new fans. I was happy to see some old friends as well. I especially want to send out a thank you to Lisa and Al who come out to see both bands on a regular basis. I almost didn't recognize one of my former baseball teammates, Donnie Parker, without his uniform. Funny how much different someone looks with and without a hat. It was good to rekindle that friendship after 10 years. Once again, Happy Birthday John. We hope it was special for you.
June 18, 2011 I just got home from playing a private party with Yearbook at the Elyria Amvets and couldn't wait to tell everyone what a fun time we had. The compliments were a plenty all night long. We can't wait to be invited back and they can't wait to have us back.
June 10, 2011 The WIXY 1260's would like to thank Dietz's Landing, 97.5 WONE, and Christi Nichols (who filled in as host at the last minute for Tim Daugherty), for welcoming us back to Landlubber Thursday last night. We saw lots of familiar faces and a few new ones as well. It is always a special night out on the dock, if for no other reason than to see "Dancin" Dave do his thing. It is the second season for the WIXY 1260's to be invited to perform and we are looking forward to coming back in August. Be sure to catch us the next time.
May 30, 2011 Another great night partying with the campers in Brunswick. I personally want to thank my cousins who came in from Tonawanda, New York to see the band. Thanks Billy, Marilyn, Shawn, D.J., and Charlotte. "It is nice to hear some real classic rock for a change." And this is coming from a 27 year old. Cuz, you are wiser than your years. Yearbook worked the crowd up into a frenzy and we almost had to turn the fire hoses on them. Even after the lights were turned off dozens of people would not leave. Thanks again and we will see you again soon.
May 28, 2011 What can be said but "WOW!!!" The rain stayed away for a whole day and it was a beautiful night to enjoy a free concert out in the open. The WIXY 1260's opened the 9th season of concerts at Lock 3 in Akron last night, splitting the night with Rumours, the Fleetwood Mac tribute band out of Canada. They were awesome. If you ever get the chance check them out, very good musicians and the nicest people you'll ever meet. T.K. O'Grady from WONE 97.5 hosted the evening and had plenty of compliments and words of support for both bands. He and all his colleagues at the radio station did a wonderful job of promoting the show on the air all week. From beginning to end we were treated like real rock stars. We had a full crew of stage hands that unloaded our cars and carried all our gear to the stage. We had our own dressing room and were treated with the utmost respect by everyone. We did a soundcheck at 5:00 as the crowd started to assemble on the lawn. By the time we took the stage there were a few hundred people gathered throughout the park. T.K.'s introduction not only riled up the crowd but got the band's adrenalin flowing as well. I don't know if it was the fast pace or the excitement but I couldn't catch my breath from the third song on. Just like the old days on WIXY 1260 AM the band blazed through 21 songs in an hour. The excitement in the air was incredible. The audience danced and sang along with every song. Some of the crowd favorites included Dr. Hook's Cover of the Rolling Stone, Herman's Hermits' hit, I'm Henry VIII, and The No No Song by Ringo Starr. By the time we finished with Leo Sayer's Long Tall Glasses (I Can Dance) the audience had grown to nearly 4000. After a brief intermission and time for us to get our heart rates somewhat back to normal we made our way slowly through the crowd to enjoy the second half of the program. People kept grabbing us telling us about what a great time they had and the memories the music brought back. They all wanted to know where they could catch our next show. Several people inquired about private parties too. All in all the most fun we've ever had on stage by far. This one is going to be hard to top.
April 30, 2011 We had a great time at the party last night. We pulled out some new tunes and a good time was had by all. Thanks again Doc.
April 3, 2011 The Parma Education Association held their annual scholarship reverse raffle fundraiser. It was a great success and a great time was had by all, including the WIXY 1260's. We played to a sold out crowd and were received very well by the diverse audience. The evening started out relatively mellow as most in attendance tried to keep up their conservative appearance. However, the apparent apprehension of what was in store for them was difficult to hide. Some of the guests were seen singing along with the band as they entered the hall. Most could not help but gaze at the performers on stage and their hands and feet could not keep still. After dinner and the raffle the dance floor was opened up and all reservations were soon lost. The people danced for nearly two solid hours before it was time to leave. Many people stopped up to the stage after the show to express what fun they had and hoped to see us again next year. The event coordinators assured us that we would be invited back, not only next year, but they hoped to see us again for many years to come. Thanks again Michelle, Kim, Maureen, and everyone in attendance for making us feel warm and welcome. We will see you again in 2012.
March 19, 2011 The WIXY 1260's song list continues to grow and the band gets tighter with every rehearsal. Rick's hand also continues to heal and he is back up to about 90% ability. The band has lots of surprises in store for audiences this summer.

February 6, 2011 The band continues to rehearse together and on their own to tighten up for the upcoming season. We have received calls and inquiries for gigs from all over, including FOX 8 In The Morning. The WIXY 1260's will be playing the Parma Education Association Scholarship Fundraiser on April 2nd. We have secured a date at Lock 3 in Akron on May 27th. We are awaiting confirmation for dates with the Sons of Herman Club, Willow Lake, Wadsworth Eagles, and many more. Keep watching the calendar for an upcoming date in your neighborhood.
January 26, 2011 The stitches are out and Rick is ready to rock and roll. The hand will continue to heal over the next few months but that isn't going to slow us down. The WIXY 1260's are ready to play.
January 17, 2011 The WIXY 1260's have resumed rehearsals and are preparing for what is shaping up to be a busy spring and summer. Upcoming dates will be finalized and announced soon. Look for us to be out and about in your neighborhood sometime in February.
January 12, 2011 Rick had his follow up appointment with the doctor and the hand surgery rehabilitation is right on schedule. The stitches won't come out for two more weeks though.
January 4, 2011 Rick had surgery on his right hand to repair nerve damage sustained last summer. The prognosis is very good and he is expected to make a full recovery in the weeks to come.
January 3, 2011 The WIXY 1260's continue to practice and add songs to their ever-growing list as newest member, Bobby Z gets more comfortable with his new bandmates.
December 8, 2010 Bobby Z has joined the WIXY 1260's as the new lead guitarist. Not only a great picker but he also has excellent vocals and is one of the most entertaining people you will ever see on stage. The band looks forward to working and playing with Bobby in the upcoming new year.
November 27, 2010 The WIXY 1260's played their last gig of the year last night at the Sports Arena & Entertainment Complex in Streetsboro. The crowd was small but mighty. But then again, any crowd of less than 1000 people would look small in this place. The club is huge. We hope it takes off and we look forward to playing there again next year.
November 20, 2010 The WIXY 1260's returned to the Parma Tavern last night and was greeted by another fabulous crowd. At first, it took them a while to get up the courage to dance but once they did the floor was never empty. All night long people were singing along and tapping their hands and feet to the beat.
November 6, 2010 The WIXY 1260's returned to the Mad Cactus last night and were once again overwhelmed by the response from the audience. We definitely gained some new fans and pleased our old faithful ones.
October 24, 2010 The WIXY 1260's played Dietz's Landing for the last time before they closed up for the winter. What a crowd we had last night. We had great audience participation from the get go. At one point, everybody in the bar formed a train and danced "The Loco-Motion" (see the pictures). Another couple was disappointed they had hired a dj for their upcoming anniversary party instead of hiring us. Keep us in mind next year. We can't wait to return to one of our favorite stomping grounds next season.
October 4, 2010 The band is coming off of back to back nights playing. Saturday, we played Dietz's Landing again. The weather wasn't looking too good and we were afraid it was going to be a slow evening. However, the courageous people of New Franklin braved the elements and made it another special night. Last night we played a private retirement party to an all ages crowd. Everyone, from five to 95 had fun.
September 18, 2010 We debuted at the Parma Tavern last night to a great crowd. The people danced from beginning to end and didn't want us to stop. We talked to a local fireman who was supposed to work in the morning but just couldn't leave for fear of missing another great oldie.
September 10, 2010 The WIXY 1260's played another Landlubber's Night at Dietz's Landing last night. The people came out to party. Dancing Dave couldn't stay off the floor, dancing by himself when he couldn't find a partner. WONE's Christi Nichols plugged us all week on the radio, really talking us up with compliments several times every morning, calling us "AM radio on steroids". She brought out co-worker, Tim Daugherty, because she was so impressed with us the first time she saw us.
August 18, 2010 Despite President Obama being in town, the people came out to see the WIXY 1260's at the DeVry University Columbus Campus. The band played outdoors this afternoon as students and staff stopped by for this Woodstock themed student appreciation gathering.
August 5, 2010 I couldn't wait to get home to write about this gig. Tonight was an early WONE sponsored Landlubber's Night Out at Dietz's Landing. The people came by land and sea. The place was packed. The parking lot was full. The water was filled with boats and pontoons. People cheered us from the decks across the lake. The owners want us back for five more gigs this season.
July 24, 2010 The WIXY 1260's made their westside debut at the Mad Cactus last night. We literally had the audience rolling in their seats. One guy almost fell out of the booth laughing and slapping his knee. He couldn't believe we were playing songs he hadn't heard in 30 years. The band seemed to be firing on all eight cylinders. Our best gig yet.
July 4, 2010 We played an afternoon gig right on the lake in the Aurora Shores development in Reminderville. Hundreds of people of all ages showed up for what has become an annual event. The people were very receptive to the concept and a good time was had by all. The crowd grew as the day progressed. They gathered on the steps and retaining wall around the dock while others sat in the lawn or observed from their boats on the water.
May 14, 2010 What we have been building towards for months, our first gig. The WIXY 1260's volunteered their services for the Relay For Life Benefit at Chagrin Falls High School. Hundreds showed up to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society's annual event. We were proud to be a part of the day and donate our time.
March 9, 2010 Glen Beitzel auditions to become the new drummer for the WIXY 1260's. After a fun filled evening of jamming that just clicked he is offered the position and accepts. Welcome to the band, Glen.
October 2009 A concept is born. Rick comes up with the idea of putting together a new project playing oldies from the WIXY 1260 am radio era in Cleveland. The original band is assembled and rehearsals will start soon.
